How to Activate Replay Mode

Using the Chart (Replay Button)

Step-1: In the Trading Terminal, click the Replay button from the top of the chart.

Step-2: Once clicked, the Replay button will change color to blue. Following this, click on an area of the chart with previous candle history. This will be where the replay will be started from.

Step-3: Once an area with previous candle history has been clicked, the following window will appear. Click Replay in this window, to begin the replay session.

To skip this prompt next time, tick Remember my choice before clicking Backtest.

Step-4: After doing so, a new panel will appear below the chart with replay functions and the Replay button will no longer be blue.

The last candle shown when replay mode is activated, will be the candle closest to where was clicked on the chart.

Using the Chart (Right-Click Context Menu)

  1. Right-click on the chart, at the point where the backtesting session is to be started from, to display the context menu.

  1. Click Start replay from here.

  1. The Start replay session window will appear. Click Replay to enter replay mode.

  1. The Replay controls will appear below the chart and replay mode will be enabled. To learn more about how they function, refer to the following section: Controls Available in Replay Mode.

  1. Start time

This button allows the selection of a new start time and functions identically to clicking the Replay button as shown in Step-1.

However, there is also a dropdown menu that can be viewed when clicking on the downward facing arrow next to the Start time button.

Clicking this arrow will display the Random Bar option as shown in the image below:

Clicking the Random Bar button will set the start time for replay mode to a random time and candle/bar.

  1. Play/Pause/Back to Start/Step

These buttons allow replay mode to be started, paused, restarted or forwarded by a single step at a time.

Once the Play button is clicked, replay mode will be started as shown below:

The Shift + Down keys can be pressed to play and pause replay mode as well.

To Pause replay mode, the same button can be clicked once more as shown below:

To Restart replay mode, the Back to Start button can be clicked as shown below:

The Shift + R buttons can be clicked to restart replay mode as well.

Restarting replay mode will cause Buys and Sells to be cleared from the replay session. If there are any Buys and Sells placed during a replay session, a message will be displayed requesting confirmation and indicating that they will be cleared from the session.

To forward the replay by a single step at a time, the Step button can be clicked as shown below:

  1. Set speed

Clicking this button allows the speed of the replay to be adjusted. This will affect how fast the replay is played, once the Play button is clicked.

Once clicked, the following dropdown menu will be displayed, where the desired speed can be selected:

Select Replay Mode playback speed

  1. Exit

Exiting replay mode will cause Buys and Sells to be cleared from the replay session. If there are any Buys and Sells placed during a replay session, a message will be displayed requesting confirmation and indicating that they will be cleared from the session.

To exit replay mode entirely and revert back to the current chart for the trading pair, the Exit button can be clicked.

Once clicked during replay mode, replay mode will be disabled as shown below:

  1. Backtest

Clicking this button will open the following window, where a backtesting session can be configured as desired. Once configured, click Create to begin the session.

  1. Buy/Sell/Order Amount

Clicking either the Buy or Sell buttons will populate the chart with mock Buy or Sell orders, to simulate trading results based on where the Buys and Sells are placed.

Buy and Sell orders placed during Replay Mode act as Market orders, filling at the current price shown on the chart, as playback continues.

Placing Buys and Sells during replay mode functions as shown below:

Summary trading results will be displayed in the replay mode panel below the chart, as shown in the example below:

To adjust the order size for the orders being placed, the Order Amount button can be clicked.
