How to Connect Your Coinbase Advanced Trade Account with Altrady

Introduction

Integrating your Coinbase account with Altrady enables you to trade directly through Coinbase while using Altrady’s advanced trading tools. To establish this connection, you’ll need to generate an API key from Coinbase and configure it accordingly, to ensure secure access.

This guide walks you through the exact steps to create a Coinbase API key, configure it accordingly, and connect it to Altrady. Follow the instructions below, to complete the process and start trading on Coinbase through Altrady.

Coinbase Advanced Trade has replaced Coinbase Pro as the advanced trading platform provided by Coinbase. If you still have a CBP API key and need to upgrade it to a CBAT API key, please create a CBAT API key, and replace your CPB Pro API key and secret in Altrady with the new pair. This is done by editing your current CBP trading account in Altrady. Do not delete the old account and add a new one, or your entire trading history will be deleted.
Coinbase Institutional accounts are no longer supported by the standard CB API, and they will not be able to be connected to Altrady.
From 1st May, 2024, Coinbase is using Coinbase Cloud, with a new process for creating an API key. Below, find written instructions for creating a new key and adding it to Altrady.

How to Connect your Coinbase Account to Altrady

When logged into Coinbase, click on the dotted square in the top right.

Next, under "For Developers" click on "Developer Platform", to be redirected there.

Once there, click on "Create API Key".

Once re-directed, click on "Create API Key" again.

Enter a name for the API key.

Go to Altrady and click on "Settings", followed by "Exchange Account API Keys", then finally "+Connect Account".

Choose Coinbase as the exchange.

Copy the displayed IP whitelist by clicking the copy button (do not copy manually). Leave this window open for the time being.

Go back to Coinbase, and paste the copied IP whitelist into the relevant field, then set "API-specific restrictions" as shown:

Next, click on "Advanced Settings", then click on the checkbox next to ECDSA to set it as the "Signature algorithm".

If the signature algorithm is not set accordingly, the key will not work.

Click "Create & Download" from the bottom of the window.

On the next window, select "Complete 2-factor authentication".

Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app as prompted.

After entering the code, a file containing your API key and secret will be downloaded to your device. Cancel the download, or delete the file, as it poses a security risk if downloaded to your device.

Using the copy button, copy the API and Secret and paste them into their respective fields, in Altrady.

Once the API and Secret have been pasted into their respective fields in Coinbase, click "I've saved my key" at the bottom of the window in Coinbase.

Finally, click "Save" at the bottom of the window in Altrady.

You've now connected your Coinbase account to Altrady. The connected account should be visible in the My Accounts list, in Settings > Exchange Account API Keys.

FAQ

Why did I receive an email from Coinbase informing me that my API key was used by an IP address that is not in the whitelist?

If you received an email from Coinbase informing you of this, first confirm whether the IP address is your own, by visiting the following website: https://whatsmyip.com/your-ip-address

If the IP is a match, the API key in Coinbase will need to be edited, so that your own IP address is added to the key's IP whitelist (in addition to Altrady's IP addresses). If it is not a match, consider rotating your API key.
