Understanding the ‘Chart’ Widget of Altrady (Part-2)

The chart widget not only provides you with the real-time data concerning price movements on your chosen coin pairs or cryptocurrency markets, but also allows you to create buy/sell orders, save chart layout for future reference among others. With the help of the chart widget, you can make a better analysis or provide clearer explanations on certain price movements in no time.

This documentation is a continuation of Understanding the Chart Widget of Altrady (Part-1). To view the first part click here.

In this documentation, you will understand how to:

Create buy or sell order
Change chart settings
Take a snapshot
Save drawings and default indicators
Set chart’s timeframe
Change chart’s timezone

Let’s begin.

How to Create Buy or Sell Order



It is easy to create buy or sell order via chart widget, but there is a precondition that must be fulfilled:

Trading widget is active

There are three methods to create buy or sell order:

A. Using Buy or Sell Button


Step - 1: Click buy/sell button in the chart widget's toolbar.



The corresponding buy/sell handle bar will be shown in the chart. Drag the buy/sell handle bar up or down to set the order at the desired price.





In the Trading widget the price field will automatically populate.

Update the fields in the trading widget as per requirement and then place the order.



B. Using Context Menu


Step - 1: In the chart widget, right click and then select Create Buy Order or Create Sell Order. The corresponding buy or sell handle bar will be shown in the chart.



Step - 2: Drag the buy/sell handle bar up or down to set the order at the desired price.



In the Trading widget the price field will automatically populate. Update the fields as per requirement and then place the order.



C. Using Hotkeys


Step - 1: Press Shift + B keys if you want to create a buy order.

Or Shift + S for creating a sell order. The corresponding buy or sell handle bar will be shown in the chart.



Step - 2: Drag the buy/sell handle bar up or down to set the order at the desired price.



In the trading widget the price field will automatically populate. Update the fields as per requirement and then place the order.



How to Change Chart Settings



A. General Settings

Step -1: To change the general settings in the chart widget, all you need to do is click on the Settings option in the chart widget’s toolbar.



Once you click on the settings option, ‘Chart settings’ dialog would be displayed with two tabs: ‘General settings’ and ‘Color’ tabs, as shown below:



Step -2: Click on the General settings tab.



In the general settings tab, the following options are available to be configured:

A. Open orders
Show open orders in the chart
Show labels on open orders
Show side on open orders
Enable editing orders from the chart
Enable canceling orders from the chart
Enable line across the chart



B. Closed Orders
Show closed orders
Number of last closed orders
Show prices of closed orders
Show quantity on closed orders
Draw closed orders on top of the chart



C. Alerts
Show alerts
Show alert note
Enable editing alerts from the chart
Enable canceling alerts from the chart
Enable line across the chart



D. Bases
Show bases
Show selected base background
Show respected bases
Show not respected bases
Show not cracked bases



E. Misc
Show break-even point
Show order book ask/bid lines
Remember visible range on the chart



Step -3: To change the settings, click on the Yes/no button next to the options.



Step -4: After changing the desired settings, click on the Save settings button to save the changes.



Chart widget will be updated automatically, as shown below:



Users can click on the Reset settings button to revert back to the default settings.



B. Color settings

Step -1: To change the color settings in the chart widget, all you need to do is click on the Settings option in the chart widget’s toolbar.



Once you click on the settings option, ‘Chart settings’ dialog would be displayed with two tabs: ‘General settings’ and ‘Color’ tabs, as shown below:



Step -2: Click on the Colors tab.



Colors can be set to the following options.

A. Chart
Grid lines
Background
Foreground
Candles
Borders
Wick



B. Orders & Alerts
Alert
Open buy order
Open sell order
Amount & price color
Closed order icon
Closed buy order
Closed sell order



C. Price
Current price
Ask price
Big price
Break-even



D. Bases
Not cracked
Cracked
Respected



Step -3: To change the color of items on the chart, click on the colored box next to the options.



Step -4: After selecting the desired color of the items, click on the Save settings button to save the changes.



The chart will be updated automatically, as shown below:



Users can click on the Reset colors button to revert back to the default colors.



How to Take a Snapshot



Step - 1: Click on camera button to copy link of the chart snapshot.

Or press Alt + S keys for the chart snapshot.



Step - 2: Copy the link to access the chart widget snapshot.



Step - 3: Enter the copied URL in your browser to view snapshot.



How to Save Drawings and Default Indicators



A. Save Chart Layout

Step -1: To save the cryptocurrency pairs/symbols and intervals that are in the chart, all you need to do is click the Save button in the chart widget’s toolbar or press CTRL+S keys.



Once you click on the save button, ‘Save new chart layout’ dialog would be displayed, as shown below:



Step -2: Enter your desired layout name and click save to save the chart layout.





Rename Chart Layout



Step -1: To rename a chart layout, click on the Downward arrow button next to the chart layout name in the chart widget’s toolbar and select the Rename option from the dropdown.





Step -2: Enter the desired layout name and click save.





C. Copy Chart Layout

Step -1: To copy the chart layout, all you need to do is click on the Downward arrow button next to the chart layout name in the chart widget’s toolbar and select the Make a copy option.





Once you click on the make a copy option, ‘Copy chart layout’ dialog would be displayed, as shown below:



Step -2: Enter the desired layout name and click save.



D. Load a Chart Layout

Step -1: To load a previously saved chart layout, all you need to do is click on the Downward arrow button next to the chart layout name in the chart widget’s toolbar and select the Load chart layout option.





Once you click on the load chart layout option, a modal window will appear on the screen with all the chart layouts that have been created previously.



Step -2: Click on the layout name you want to load.



Chart widget will load the corresponding layout, as shown below:



E. Delete a Chart Layout

Step -1: To delete a chart layout, click on the Downward arrow button next to the chart layout name in the chart widget’s toolbar and select the Load chart layout option.





Once you click on the load chart layout option, a modal window will appear on the screen with all the chart layouts that have been created previously.



Step -2: Click on the ‘X’ icon next to the chart layout name and hit the Yes on the confirmation dialog to delete the layout. The corresponding layout would be deleted automatically, as shown below:



How to Set the Chart’s Timeframe



Step -1: To change the chart’s timeframe, all you need to do is select the desired timeframe at the bottom left part of the chart widget.



Once you click on the desired timeframe, the chart widget will be updated automatically, as shown below:



Step -2: If you want to navigate to a specific date, all you need to do is click the Go to button at the bottom-left part of the chart widget and select the desired date.



Once you enter the date, the chart widget will be updated automatically, as shown below:



How to Change the Chart’s Timezone



Step -1: To change the chart’s timezone, click on the Current timezone shown in the bottom part of the chart widget and select the desired timezone from the list.





Once you select the desired timezone, the chart’s timezone would change automatically, as shown below:
